Overview of Mt. Everest View Trek 

If you want to trek to the Everest region and get a glimpse of Mount Everest within a short period then Everest View Trek is the perfect one. Let’s look out the itinerary of Everest View Trek once. The trek will be of 6 Nights/ 7 days including leaving from and returning to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

You will be taking a 30 mins flight from Tribhuwan International Airport to Lukla Airport. Due to bad weather, flight often gets canceled so remember to take an early flight. Lukla airport, being one of the dangerous airports in the world and surrounded by the Himalayas, this would be your wonderful start of trekking.

From Lukla, you will start 4 hours hike to Phakding. Phakding is a small village with few shops and teahouses. On your way to Phakding, you will get the view of Mt. Nupla( 5885m), Kusum Kanguru( 6367m) and Mount Kongde range. Also, you will pass through carved prayer stones, farms, and many suspension bridges. You will spend a night here enjoying the local foods of the Khumbu region. The maximum height you will reach is 8700 ft.

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Today you will be hiking for 6 hours and reach an elevation of 11280 ft. The trail starts getting more uphill than the day before as altitude starts increasing drastically. Following the Dudh Koshi River and crossing through suspension bridges, you will reach Sagarmatha National Park. Crossing the entrance of the park, you will walk through villages and forests witnessing rhododendron forest, pines forest and get the first glimpse of Nuptse  (7879m) and Thamserku (6608m). Reaching Namche Bazaar (Gateway to Everest), you will get the first view of Mount Everest and spend the second day here enjoying spectacular views the place has to offer.

Day 03: Namche Bazaar Acclimatization Day

As the trekking region is of high altitude, you will be taking an acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar. You can spend the day visiting the nearest destination from Namche Bazaar and become habituated with the higher altitude. Yak farm, Sherpa Museum, and Everest View hotel will be your destinations for the third day. You can get the view of Everest more clearly from the Everest View Hotel. 

As Namche Bazaar is also known as the capital of the Everest region, many facilities are available like wifi, hot showers and cafe. You will spend a night here enjoying all the facilities of the city.

Day 04: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

Today, you will be trekking for 6-7 hours. Walking through the village of Trashinga, you will start walking descending leading to Gokyo valley. Taking a rest for a while in Gokyo valley, you will start heading towards Tengboche. Crossing the Dudhkoshi river, you will start taking steep climb along the mountainside. After a few hours climb, you can see a stone gate, the entrance gate to Tengboche.

Tengboche is also home to the famous monastery of the Everest region, the Tengboche monastery. You will visit the monastery and get to see the splendid sunset on Everest from Tengboche. Overnight stay at Tengboche.

Day 05: Tengboche to Manjo Trek

As Tengboche was last stop of the trek you will be trekking backward from today. Early morning, watching the sunrise and taking photographs you will start the trek towards Manjo. Many trekkers stay at Namche Bazaar but Manjo is also equally beautiful and you can stay overnight there for a change of scenery. Though Manjo is a smaller town, you will get to enjoy fewer facilities but have a new taste of everything.

Day 06: Trek from Manjo to Lukla

A short trek from Manjo to Lukla is of 6 hours. Bidding goodbye to Sagarmatha National Park, you will spend a night at Lukla celebrating your accomplishment. As you will reach Lukla during the day time, you can visit the place and take an early flight tomorrow.

Day 07: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

You will be taking an early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Taking all the memories with you and enjoying the panoramic view of Himalayas, your flight will take off. Reaching the hotel, you can spend resting or roam around Thamel.

Everest View Trek Cost

The Everest View Trek will cost you around US$600-800 depending upon various reasons. As it will be a very hectic schedule, trekking through a travel agency will make your journey much easier covering all your basic costs within this amount.

Basic food will cost around $10 per day for three times a day in a trekking trail. Thukpa, Tibetian bread, Dal-Bhat, momos, and Pizza are some good examples that you can find in the tea-houses. The basic tea-houses accommodation cost you around $10 per/night and if you with upgrated attached bathroom cost you $20 to $50 depending on tea-houses and upon the seasons. Within $50 all of your permit charges will be covered which is included in the package already. And yes, your flight Kathmandu to Lukla with a return ticket, it cost you around $300-$400. Lastly, hiring a guide will cost $25 per day.
